GE

My career path had plenty of wiggles and waggles

My friendship with tech started early in my life

My mom was a teacher, and would bring home apple computers on weekends and over the summer so my sister and I could play with them. I was hooked.

My career started with visual design for film sets

My first job in design was as a graphic designer with a print studio in Vancouver that services the film studios. My role there included designing props and various print artifacts for shows like Battlestar Galactica and Smallville.

I was into maps for a while

I was always fascinated with the visual design of maps, which brought me to study cartography, and work as a cartographic designer for some of the most well known mapping entities in the world, including Rand McNally and Millennium House Publishing. I helped design the world’s largest atlas, which is still in the Guiness Book of World Records!

Enter interaction design 😍

The systems based rules in Cartography were very similar to the systems and guidelines we use in product and UX design, so it was an easy transition for me to get passionate about. I did a post-graduate in interaction design at George Brown School of Design in Toronto, Ontario.

Early in my career I worked with many businesses ranging from small businesses and startups all the way up to mega corporations like GE.
